Why when I perform a search in Customer Portal (using a report display widget) it is returning a different result than when performing a search with the Connect Knowledge API?

The reason you are seeing the answers in different orders compared to the end user pages is because the Knowledge Foundation API automatically sorts answers by weight. However, by default, answers are sorted by weight and computed score on the end user pages. Using the API, sorting answers has limited functionality compared to the console because it can only be done using one column at a time unlike the console where you can sort a report by multiple columns at the same time.
