Resolution:
For agents handling chats within the Browser UI and .NET Console, posting messages into the live chat conversation can be done in two ways:
- By clicking the “Send” button within the compose control
- By pressing the “Enter” button on the keyboard
If the business wants to disable the keyboard “Enter” function, then Administrators can disable the capability via this standard configuration setting:
- SHTC_ENTER_TO_SEND
- If enabled, text entered in the agent's message text box is sent when the agent presses Enter (without having to click the Send button).
- If disabled the agent may send using the shortcut combination specified by the Send button. Default is enabled (Yes)
- This configuration applies to both Service Cloud consoles (Browser UI & .Net Agent Console)
- When the “Enter” key is disabled, then the agent must click the “Send” button within the compose control, in order to post messages into the live chat.
- The default shortcut combination for the 'Send' button is ALT+S. This shortcut will work even if SHTC_ENTER_TO_SEND is enabled. For additional information regarding shortcut keys please see Customizing the shortcut keys used in workspaces.
