Service Usage Alerting for Sessions
Answer ID 12790   |   Last Review Date 03/01/2024

How can I know if Session Usage exceeds the expected range?

Environment:
Oracle B2C Service Session Usage

Resolution:
Admins can use the Service Usage Alerting for Sessions feature to configure an alert to receive emails when usage exceeds the threshold value set.

Requirements: Admin Privileges

How to Access: Navigation -> Administration-> Service Usage Metrics -> Sessions -> Service Usage Alerts -> Listing Page -> Add New -> Configuration UI

Listing Page:
The listing page or the landing page of the Service Usage Alerts shows the list of alerts configured for that site and a high-level summary of the configuration. The listing also provides options to add a new alert, open an alert configuration, and delete an alert configuration. Admins can configure up to 20 alerts for the session usage per site.

Configuration UI:
Configurations can be opened in two ways:
  1. Add New alert to configure a new alert
  2. Open existing alert to view and/or edit configuration
How to Configure?
The configuration can be set up by filling in the following fields on the configuration UI:

Name
: Enter a unique name for the alert configuration. The name must start with a letter, and end with a letter or number. It should only contain letters, numbers, and/or underscores.

Enabled
: Select "Yes" to enable the alert configuration and "No" to disable the alert.

Threshold
: Input the value at which the alert should be triggered. Please note that there would be a delay of 2 days in recording the actual usage, hence, kindly account for the same while setting up the threshold.

Frequency
: Enter the amount of time that the usage should be aggregated to compare it to the threshold. If "Monthly" is selected, the monthly usage will be compared against the threshold entered.

Contract Date
: Select the start date of the billing cycle or the date at which the usage should be aggregated for monthly frequency.

Email
: Input one or more email IDs, each separated by a comma, to whom the alerts should be sent once the usage exceeds the threshold.

Once the fields have been successfully filled with valid values the alert can be saved. When the usage exceeds the threshold as per the configuration an email will be triggered to the email IDs configured. Please note that the comparison between usage and sessions happens once in day every day.
