Tips for using User Group Preview in Authoring
Answer ID 12650   |   Last Review Date 06/26/2023

How is user group preview used in the article creation process?

Environment:

Knowledge Advanced for Oracle B2C Service, any version

Issue:
User group preview gives you a chance to show the article with user group restrictions.
The user groups listed are all the user groups available to use for the article.  At times different fields or parts of fields are displayed conditionally to different user groups.  The preview gives you a chance to see what the article looks like for different user groups.

Resolution:
There are two Preview links under "User Group Preview" section.

Preview link:
  • This link can be used to verify the content displayed for users with certain user groups in the Authoring preview in the left pain.
Preview in Customer Portal:
  • When author selects few User Groups, selects interface name and clicks on this link, it opens a new browser window. The browser window shows how the article will be displayed to user with selected user groups access.  If there is a custom CP, then this link will open the Custom CP page.  If only the default shipped pages are used then the OOTB CP is displayed.  If additional user authentication is needed to view the article, for example if certain usergroups are added to the article, then the author needs to login to CP in same browser where BUI is opened or in default browser for .NET.
