How do I determine what profile permissions take precedence?
Environment:
Profiles/Staff Accounts
Oracle B2C Service
Resolution:
If a user profile has the "Profiles" checkbox checked (under the "Administration" tab) then all profiles will be available for selection from the profile drop-down menu.
2. Does the user's profile have (at least) every CSS permission that the target profile has? (except "Assignment - Appears in menus")
3. Does the user's profile have (at least) every MA permission that the target profile has? (except "Assignment - Appears in menus")
4. Does the user's profile have (at least) every SA permission that the target profile has? (except "Assignment - Appears in menus")
IMPORTANT: If the answer to ANY of these is no, then the target profile is left off of the available profiles list.
As an example, if a managers profile (i.e. called "Manager") does not have chat configured then a manager using that profile will not be able to assign a staff account to a profile that has chat configured (i.e. called "Agent - Chat") because the CSS Permissions for the "Agent - Chat" profile will be greater than the CSS Permissions of the "Manager" profile.
More information on profile permissions is available in Answer 768: Profile Permissions.
