Autosave is Not Updating Attachments.
Answer ID 12130   |   Last Review Date 06/21/2022

Why are my new files not uploaded or removed after autosave?

Environment:

  • Oracle B2C Service
  • Sites with Knowledge Advanced only
  • Authoring
  • Adding and Editing Content

Issue:

When the authoring interface times out from lack of use or if the system goes down, autosave has been saving an intermediate copy of the editing changes.  Autosave saves every 30 seconds by default.  This intermediate copy of the article only has editing updates, it does not have attachment updates.

When the author reloads the article again there are messages that state the article was not uploaded, changed or deleted, depending on the action that the user did.

This is working this way by design.

There are three scenarios that can happen.
1. An attachment was added to the article.
- Create article.
- Attach an attachment.
- When the article is reloaded you will see this message under the attachment about the attachment not being uploaded.

If the user misses this message then no attachment is saved to the article.

2. An attachment is deleted from the article.
- This message will be displayed when the user edits the article again.
And if the author does not remove the attachment on the article, then the attachment will still exist on the article after it is saved.

3. If an attachment is removed and a new file is uploaded and it is not saved.
The message displayed to the author is the same as when the original attachment is removed.  The author needs to remove the old attachment again and add back the new attachment.

Resolution:
Authors should use the save and continue editing button when making attachment changes.
