Unexpected characters in the exported CSV data
Answer ID 10109   |   Last Review Date 03/18/2019

Why some text characters displayed incorrectly in the exported CSV file?

Environment:

Analytics, Site Configuration
Oracle B2C Service all versions

Resolution:

By default, all CSV files created in ANSI encoding and that may affect how non-English characters are displayed while viewing the file.As for example ANSI apostrophe, the one that is used in English [ ' ] will look normally as oppose to UTF-8 (mostly used in non-English languages) apostrophe [ ’ ] which will be displayed as "’".

And there is no option to select the file encoding during the export; however, encoding can be changed once a file is generated.

To change the file encoding simply open it in "notepad" select File > Save As. At the bottom of the dialog window change encoding from ANSI to UTF-8 and save it as a new file.
