GEO IP Service for Oracle Field Service (OFS)
Answer ID 9535   |   Last Review Date 09/19/2019

Where can I get more details about the GEO IP Service for Oracle Field Service (OFS)?

Environment:

All versions of Oracle Field Service (OFS)

Issue:

I don't have enough information about GEO IP Service for OFS

Resolution:

Starting on May 14, 2017 GEO IP Service was implemented for Oracle Field Service (OFS) Infrastructure. The GEO IP Service uses your country source IP address for DNS requests, to provide an IP address of an optimal data center. In order to use the API Portal (api.etadirect.com) and Login Portal (login.etadirect.com) with enabled GEO IP, you should be ready to process API and Login requests for any Oracle data center in advance.

The GEO IP Service will return country-based DNS responses for your requests for the following domain names:

  • api.etadirect.com
  • login.etadirect.com
  • login.toadirect.com

It is expected that your configurations (network firewalls, middleware, security settings and etc) allow operations with these OFS end points. However if your security policy requires IP whitelisting - please refer to the following Knowledgebase AnswerID 8543:Oracle Field Service (OFS) IPs for an exhaustive list. Please keep in mind that this list is adjusted over time, and it is your responsibility to keep your network whitelists updated with the correct IPs.
