To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer

How do I get rid of the Internet Explorer prompt when I try downloading an attachment?

Environment:

Downloading attachments from Answer Print Preview

Issue:

Opening documents from Answers Print Window may cause the browser to prompt for downloading files. This is a known issue with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and may also occur in other browsers. As the attachment is opened, it downloads to your computer so that the parent program will open it. Internet Explorer’s default security will not allow files to be downloaded without approval. It will prompt you every time with a yellow action banner across the top of the window stating:

“To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options...”

Resolution:

The best approach to this issue is to tell the security feature that this website is “trusted” and to disable all security alerts for this website, but continue to prompt me for all other websites. This can be achieved by following the steps below:

1. In your Internet Explorer browser window, select the Tools menu and then Internet Options
2. Once the Internet Options window opens, click the Security tab at the top
3. Inside the zones box, you will see 4 large icons. Click the Trusted sites icon with the green check mark
4. Once that icon is highlighted, press the Sites button below it
5. Once you have navigated your way to the Trusted sites window, you will see a field named: “Add this website to the zone:”
6. In this field type the domain for the site
7. Click the Add button to add it to the known trusted websites field, then click the CLOSE button to exit
8. Exiting the Trusted sites window should place you back at the Internet Options window
9. Near the bottom of the window is a Custom level... button. Press this button
10. In the Security Settings window, scroll down to Downloads
11. Look for “Automatic prompting for file downloads” and click Enable
12. To complete the configuration click Ok twice

The website is now fully trusted and the download prompts have been disabled for subsequent downloads.
