Knowledge Advanced content type subscription notifications are not sent
Answer ID 13047   |   Last Review Date 09/08/2025

Environment:

Knowledge Advanced (KA), Authoring

Issue:

We have noticed that content type subscription notifications are no longer sent to subscribers. Subscription notifications for direct article subscriptions do not seem to be affected.

It is unclear when the issue started exactly. Subscription notifications are set to be sent immediately and the Batch Job "Subscription Email Fifteen Min" does not show any errors.

Resolution:

The explanation of the behavior in this case is likely that the subscriptions have expired. For Account users, content type subscriptions are valid for SUBSCRIPTION_END_DAYS (a hidden KA-specific configuration) days from the date of creation/modification. Content type subscriptions do not expire for contact users. Also, document type subscriptions do not expire for account users or contact users.

To renew/extend content type subscriptions for account users, the SUBSCRIPTION_END_DAYS configuration must be modified through an SR to the Support team, and then each expired content type subscription must be opened and saved (without changing any details). On save, the end date will be extended by config value mentioned in SUBSCRIPTION_END_DAYS property.

Further, these subscriptions cannot be set to never expire. To avoid content type expirations for account users, the best option is to configure SUBSCRIPTION_END_DAYS with a large validity period. E.g. SUBSCRIPTION_END_DAYS value of 7300 will make subscriptions valid for almost 20 years.

Finally, subscription end date will not be extended on activate/deactivate. Activate/deactivate are used to enable/disable subscription emails within the subscription validity period.
