Why won't my dashboard filters update?

Filters in a dashboard have stopped reflecting the changes made to the filters in an embedded report.
Generally speaking, if you have a report in a dashboard, you can update the filters in the report. That change will be synced to the dashboard. However, you can also go into the dashboard and modify Parameter Values. These are the filters for all of the reports that are contained within the dashboard. If any Parameter Values are modified, all report filters are locked to their current values. With that, changes to report filters will no longer sync to the dashboard.
To update the filters after this, you will need to change Parameter Values from the dashboard. This can be done:
- While editing the Dashboard -->
- In the Ribbon -->
- On the Home tab -->
- In the Parameters section -->
- Select Parameter Values.
- Filters are separated by report.
