Why is my column format not applied anymore when I switch the report to the record layout?

A custom format is set for a certain column, but after the report is changed to display in a record layout, this format is not applied anymore and the column is displayed in the default format.
Open the report in edit mode, right click on the column with the custom format and select Edit Format. After the column format window opens, click on the Styles tab and change the format of the Record Labels and Record Data entries to the desired one.
Click OK to close the column format window and save the report.
When the record layout is selected from the Home tab in the ribbon, the applied column format changes to the one present in the Record Labels and Record Data. This allows you to have different formats for each separate layout (tabular or record).
