The dbname and launch parameters must be specified on first run
Answer ID 6405   |   Last Review Date 08/07/2023

Agents are receiving the error, "The dbname and launch parameters must be specified on first run" when trying to log in.

Environment:

Oracle B2C Service Supported versions

Cause:

The Oracle B2C Service application is deployed using Microsoft's ClickOnce technology. That process first creates and then places some files in the ClickOnce application store in the users Windows profile.

The dbname and launch parameters must be specified on first run error occurs when those files are missing, renamed, or access to them blocked.

Currently, the most common cause of this issue is the Operating System denying access to the ClickOnce application store for the user. This may be due to a reboot being needed to complete the application of pending Microsoft updates, or just a general permission issue. In any event, a reboot of the workstation most often clears this issue and allows the agent to log into the B2C application.

Other possible causes are the use of Windows Roaming profiles or when the Microsoft Edge Browser and ClickOnce are not enabled by default. To enable ClickOnce, please use the steps provided in Answer 11587: Can't download .Net Console in latest Microsoft Edge Version

Regarding Roaming Profiles, please see Roaming Profiles
