What is happening to the Oracle B2C Service CP Syndicated Widgets?
Environment:
Oracle B2C Service Oracle Service Cloud Customer Portal (CP)
Resolution:
Due to low usage and maintenance overhead on the development team, Oracle has decided to discontinue upgrading the Syndicated Widgets for PHP 8.3 or later. These widgets will be fully unavailable in PHP 8.3 and later.
Which widgets are impacted?
The following syndicated widgets will no longer be available for customers using PHP 8.3 or later:
- Proactive Chat
- Conditional Chat Link
- Knowledge Base Search
- Survey Polling
Are there alternatives to the Syndicated Widgets?
While there are no exact replacements, Oracle provides the following alternatives:
- Proactive Chat and Conditional Chat Link:
Use Web Chat for Service (WCFS). WCFS allows you to offer live chat, including proactive chat and conditional triggers.- WCFS Documentation: WCFS Documentation
- Knowledge Base Search:
Customers can use the Knowledge Foundation REST API to query knowledge articles programmatically.- Knowledge Foundation API Overview: Knowledge Foundation API Overview
- Knowledge Foundation API Documentation: Knowledge Foundation API Documentation
- Survey Polling:
Use OSvC Survey Links. You can create a survey link on your external site, which will redirect users to the Customer Portal to complete the survey.- OSvC Survey Links Guide: OSvC Survey Links Guide
When do I need to migrate?
Customers who are upgrading to PHP 8.3 or later will see the Syndicated Widgets functionality break. You should migrate to the recommended alternatives before upgrading to PHP 8.3 or later.
What happens if I don’t migrate?
If you do not migrate, the Syndicated Widgets will no longer be available for customers on PHP 8.3 or later. Oracle will only fix critical defects in the PHP 5.6 codebase for these widgets, but no future enhancements will be made.
