Is there a limitation for column or variable expression?

Resolution:

There is a hard limit for the number of characters that can be saved in the Column, Filter or Variable expression. The limit is set to 3500 characters and is not configurable.

In some cases, if for example there is a need to save slightly more than 3500 characters in the expression, then variables can be used as a syntax container. You basically store part of the syntax/expression in the variable and use that variable in the column or filter expression. This is acceptable while you trying to pass a few hundred extra characters in the expression; however, if 3500 characters limit is excessively violated, the report may simply not run.
