How do dates get assigned to Knowledge Advanced articles?

Environment:

Knowledge Advanced for Oracle B2C Service
All versions

Issue:
As articles are created and updated the dates for each version of the article are set.  There is a display on and a remove after date controlling the visibility of the article once it is published.

Resolution:

The rules for these dates are as follows:

1. A new article will have the display on date set to the time it is created.  The date for the expire on is left blank.  If these dates are not changed they will be saved as is.
2. Each additional version of the article will pick up the same dates and will need to be modified for what is needed.  If a date in the future is set in the display on field then it will be pending a future date to be made visible in search as long as it is published.
3.  If the dates were set incorrectly in the database they have to be corrected by the user.  This has occasionally happened when articles are imported.
4.  If there is a really far away end date then the value is saved to the database but the preview information on the article will read 'Through  Open'
