Unable to add custom property to User Options
Answer ID 11350   |   Last Review Date 01/29/2020

Why my custom property is not available to be added to User Options context?

Environment:

Oracle Field Service (OFS)

Issue:

I have created a User entity property 'Third Party App Password' to give the Field Resource users the ability to manage their own password for a third party application they launch through Oracle Field Service.

Configuration > Properties. Property 'Third Party App Password' is shown.

When I try to add this property to User Options screen in Configuration > User Types > Screen configuration > Application screens > User Options,  this property does not appear in the list to be selected.

Configuration > User Types > Screen configuration > Application screens > User Options. The property 'Third Party App Password' is not available for selection.

Resolution:

User Options screen was not designed to allow for custom properties. You should add this property to Configuration > User Types > Screen Configuration > Application screens > Edit Resource/User context instead.

Please keep in mind the following:

  • For users to have access to Edit Resource/User, you need to add Resource (action label 'supervisor_resources') screen to Configuration > User Types > Screen Configuration > Application screens > Main Menu screen;
  • If in Configuration > Display > Field Resource Landing Page setting 'My Route' is selected, screen will be accessible via Main Menu > Resources in Mobility interface. If  'Activity List' is selected, screen will be accessible when clicking 'Resource Info' button in Mobility interface;

  • User Type must be able to manage it's own User Type. Meaning it needs to have it's own User Type added under 'Can create users of the following user types' setting in Configuration > User Type > General tab

Configuration > User Type > General tab. Field Resource's User Type is configured under setting 'Can create users of the following user types'.
