Disable object event handlers on Answers before completing KA migration
Answer ID 10330   |   Last Review Date 07/08/2019

Why can't I delete my Answer object event handlers?

Environment:

Oracle B2C Service sites migrating the knowledge base from Knowledge Foundation to Knowledge Advanced

Resolution:

The final step in the migration from Knowledge Foundation to Knowledge Advanced is to disable Knowledge Foundation answers entirely. Once this is complete, legacy Answer objects are no longer used. Instead, Knowledge Advanced articles are the type of object containing the knowledge base data. If you have object event handlers associated with Answers, you will be unable to disassociate them once migration is complete. Because they will likely fail their test harnesses as answer objects are no longer accessible, you may also be unable to deploy any changes in Process Designer.

To avoid this scenario, you should use Process Designer to disassociate any object event handlers from the Answer object once your migration has progressed such that you are using Knowledge Advanced articles. As a best practice, it is recommended to also delete them after saving a backup. Deploy these changes prior to completing the migration.
