Why am I receiving an error when trying to open or edit a report?

Environment:

Analytics, August 2016 and later

Issue:

When trying to perform any action (open, edit, view definition) on a report, the customer is receiving an error saying: "Instance validation error: 'OPER_START' is not a valid value for Operator Type".

Resolution:

This happens for reports imported from versions of the product older than August 2016 (i.e. from an older test site). To resolve this, log into the older version of the site, open the report in edit mode and remove the slicing by following these steps:

1. In the Home tab, click on Slice

2. Click Reset

3. Save the report

After removing the slicing from the report, export it from the older version of the site, import it into the newer version and redo the slicing. For more information on slicing reports you can view Answer ID 2511: Using slicing and rollups with reports.

Cause:

The analytics engine was updated in versions August 2016 and later, and the internal functionality changed due to the .NET framework upgrade.
