Cobrowse page masking variables
Answer ID 9247   |   Last Review Date 03/18/2019

When Cobrowsing with a customer, why does a web page display (or not display) when I have page masking enabled?

Environment:

Cobrowse, Chat

Resolution:

When configuring page masking in Cobrowse, there are certain variables to consider:  ltb_urls, ltb_urls_exc, and ltb_urls_force_inc.  The order of operations for these variables is:

ltb_urls_force_inc  >  ltb_urls_exc  > ltb_urls

When composing the page masking XML file, keep the following in mind:

  1. If page masking is enabled, and no designations have been specified in any of the variable sections (ltb_urls, ltb_urls_exc, and ltb_urls_force_inc), all web pages will be masked
  2. URL patterns specified in the variable section ltb_urls_force_inc will always be visible
  3. URL patterns specified in the variable section ltb_urls_exc will be blocked, unless the URL pattern matches a URL pattern specified in the ltb_urls_force_inc section
    • If the URL matches patterns specified in both variable sections ltb_urls_force_inc and ltb_urls_exc, the variable ltb_urls_force_inc has higher priority and the web page will be displayed
  4. URL patterns specified in the ltb_urls section will be visible, unless the URL pattern matches a URL pattern specified in the ltb_urls_exc section
    • If the URL matches patterns specified in both variable sections ltb_urls and ltb_urls_exc, the variable ltb_urls_exc has higher priority and the web page will be blocked
    • If the URL matches patterns specified in all three variable sections ltb_urls, ltb_urls_exc, and ltb_urls_force_inc, the variable ltb_urls_force_inc has the highest priority and the web page will be visible
