Vertical text alignment discrepancy
Answer ID 9020   |   Last Review Date 12/19/2018

Why can't I align text vertically?

Environment:

All versions (text editor)

Resolution:

This behavior is as designed due to .NET technology. It is applicable for all parts of the application that are using text editor (incident thread, answers, mailings, message templates, etc.) This has been tested in different editors like MS Word, MS Outlook, Thunderbird etc. and the same results were observed.  The only one where alignment is permitted is Notepad which uses a monospace font (Lucida Console).

Notes:

As example, I created a simple text in order to evidentiate the space each letter takes when there is the same sentence and when it is not:

Some text          Another text

Some text          Another text

Some text          Another text

Some text          Another text

Some text          Another text

Some text          Another text

Some text-A        Another text

Some text-C        Another text

Some text-Z        Another text

Some text-G        Another text

Some text-N        Another text

Some text-F        Another text
