What is the Oracle Field Service (OFS) browser support policy?

I don't know what the Oracle Field Service (OFS) browser support policy is.

It is also important to note that per the Oracle Software Technical Support Policies document, you must remain on a supported environment - including applications and platforms - to receive technical support.

The Oracle Software Web Browser Support Policy defines Oracle Global policy, and specific details for Oracle Field Service are as follows:

Oracle Field Service will support the following browsers for customers on the latest generally available (GA) release.



Supported Browsers for Core Manage Cloud Service

Minimum native screen resolution of 1024x768 and browsers listed below:

  • Mozilla Firefox:  Most current major ESR version and above, in production only. Please visit the Mozilla FAQ for a description of the Firefox support policy.
  • Google Chrome:  Most current major stable channel release only. Please visit the Google Chrome FAQ for a description of the Chrome support policy.
  • Apple Safari:  Most current major production release and one prior release.
  • Microsoft Browser:  Most current Major Production Release* on a supported operating system. Please visit the Microsoft Browser Support Lifecycle Policy FAQ for list of Microsoft supported operating systems and browser combinations.
    • Windows 10 - Microsoft Edge

Note: A Major Production Release is defined as the largest version number for the browser release. As an example: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11. Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.x is not a major release.

Support is provided on all platforms that the browser vendor provides support for.

Supported Browsers for Mobility Cloud Service

Minimum native screen resolution of 320x480 and mobile operating systems listed below:

  • iOS 12+ (recommended at least iPhone 8+, iPad (2017) or iPad Pro (2nd)+)
  • Android 9.0+ (Any device with Minimum 1 GHz processor / 1 GHz Dual Core or better (Recommended) and at least 1 GB of total RAM)[a]

For mobile device operating systems, support is provided for the most recent browser delivered by the device operating system only.

Supported Browsers for the Core Application (unified Core Manage and Mobility service)

The system requirements for the Core Application are a combination of the Supported Browsers for Core Manage Cloud Service and Supported Browsers for Mobility Cloud Service based on the device being used to access Oracle Field Service. Please see the details in the Supported Browsers for Core Manage Cloud Service and Supported Browsers for Mobility Cloud Service sections above.

General Notes

Certain Oracle Field Service features and functionality are device, browser and platform specific and may not be available or supported. Some examples include but are not limited to:

  • Barcode scanning from a desktop/laptop
  • Access to the camera from a desktop/laptop
  • Capturing a geolocation from desktop/laptop can be inaccurate
  • Use of a VPN can influence the geolocation that is captured
  • Use of a virtual desktop is not recommended since it can impact system performance
  • Ability to view a property hint in Mobility or Core Application
  • Access to certain features or functionality while offline as documented in the Core Application and Mobility documentation
  • Ability to capture a signature on a desktop without a touch screen

General Support Policy

Oracle Field Service will support new browser releases in accordance with the following schedule and distribution methods:

  1. For new major releases of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, Oracle will provide support with all versions of Oracle Field Service that are under active support immediately upon general availability of the browser.
    1. Any issues encountered that will require Oracle Field Service fixes will be provided via the established release and upgrade process.

  2. For new major releases of Microsoft Browser and Apple Safari, Oracle will provide support with all versions of Oracle Field Service that are under active support within nine months of general availability of the browser.
    1. Oracle will issue an appropriate upgrade according to the established release process for each supported version of Oracle Field Service in support of this browser version.
  3. Oracle will stop supporting a browser version from a vendor with all supported versions of Oracle Field Service immediately upon the vendor de-supporting that browser.

  4. For new software product releases, Oracle will begin support for the latest version of each of the four major browsers at the time that the Oracle Field Service is released for General Availability.
