OSvC August 2016: PHP 5.6.18 Upgrade - General Announcement
PHP, Upgrades, August 2016 and newer
Audience: Oracle Service Cloud Site Owners and Administrators
With the release of Oracle Service Cloud August 2016, we will be upgrading our support of PHP to version 5.6.18. This enhancement allows Oracle Service Cloud to continue to provide you with a secure and flexible platform for your unique customization and integration requirements.
In order for this upgrade to be completed as smoothly as possible, the Oracle Service Cloud team will be reviewing all PHP code on your site. Any required changes based upon our review will be made without impacting the functionality of the code. This review will be completed before your site updates to Oracle Service Cloud August 2016.
Sites on versions older than August 2015 must update to May 2016 (February 2016 for Japanese clients), prior to updating to August 2016 and newer.
As an Oracle Service Cloud site owner, administrator or developer, you should:
1. Review the changes to PHP from version 5.3 to 5.6. We recommend you review 'Migrating from 5.3 to 5.4', 'Migrating from 5.4 to 5.5' and 'Migrating from 5.5 to 5.6' on php.net.
2. Avoid the introduction of any new PHP code that is not compatible with PHP 5.6 rules and syntax.
3. Consider additional PHP-specific testing during your August 2016 update.
Contact the PHP Upgrade Team on the Oracle Service Cloud forums if you have any questions.
