Why do I not see my custom attributes on account record types?

Environment:
Staff Accounts, All versions
 
Resolution:
When working with custom attributes on staff accounts, relationships with a parent custom object to an account will not display in the account editor ribbon.  To associate an account to a parent custom attribute you will need to build a workspace for the parent object and be sure to add Account View control to that workspace and associate that workspace to your profile for the parent object type.  Then open or start a new parent object type and associate accounts to the parent custom object.
