What do I need to know about the deprecation of the Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant feature?

Environment:

Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant on OCI.

Resolution:

Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant is deprecated as of May 2021. Customers will need to re-implement with a new solution of their choice. Oracle will not migrate customers to a new solution, they will have to deploy some new chat bot solutions (e.g. Oracle Digital Assistant).

How long do I have to switch my Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant implementation to something else?

The deprecation period for Oracle Virtual Assistant on B2C Service starts May 2021. The product will remain available to existing customers until at least May 2023.

Why is Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant being deprecated?

Oracle Virtual Assistant (OVA) was built and released as a means to quickly ramp up a chat bot for deflection purposes for Chat. It has been replaced by the more fully-featured chat bot platform, Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA).  ODA provides for a more tailored chat bot experience, with the ability to create more complex integrations and dialogs.

What if I don't want to change to a different chat bot solution?

No future enhancements will be made Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant. We will continue to fix defects that result in an Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant service down event, or significant impairment of service.

What happens to Oracle B2C Service Oracle Virtual Assistant data after it's turned off?

Intent and answer data will be provided to customers on request, by raising a Customer Service Request. OVA conversations will persist in the Chat agent history unless deleted.
